Long Island Steinway

When one calls to mind a picture of Long Island, Steinway pianos are hardly the first image to appear. However, the relationship between the two has been long standing. The Stienweg family founded this piano dynasty in 1853. In 1880, what is now known as Long Island City was once the Steinway Village.

In Long Island, the Steinway Village was home to the new Steinway factory along with foundries, parks, post offices and housing for employees. The factory itself displayed great success due to the high manufacturing standards and intelligent marketing strategies with regard to the instruments and brand.

Steinway has influenced culture and history in Long Island in many ways. Steinway Street in Long Island is an example of this. Steinway pianos became world-renowned and have been used by famous pianists through the centuries. Some pianists included:

" Ignace Jan Paderewski

" Franz Liszt

" Richard Wagner

" Rachmaninoff

" Rubinstein, and

" Horowitz

The Steinway/ Long Island connection also branches out with regard to artists themselves. Famous pianists from Long Island:

" Yelena and Vladimir Polezhayev and

" Claudio Arrau

While these artists may be lesser known, their "weapon" of choice has always been Steinway. Steinway has created a brand promise of quality in design and passion in production. The Steinway family has always been a champion of the arts and of the instruments themselves and continue to do so today, more than 150 years later.

Many avid fans, eager to watch concert pianists in action, would travel to Long Island. Steinway, the brand, then gained popularity due to the Steinway showrooms created in 1864 and later the Steinway Hall, which was also the brainchild of Henry Steinway's son, William Steinway. The halls became the home in which over 100 piano's were showcased. Once the concert hall was complete and concerts being staged, patrons were required to walk through the showroom in order to enter the hall. This proved a great marketing strategy and piano sales increased greatly.

And so with the help of the community in Long Island, Steinway and its legacy was born. Today, many respectable piano stores stock Steinway pianos for those serious about their concertos and sonatas. One of these stores, Frank and Camille's, can fulfill all your Steinway playing dreams. With their three stores located in New York their website, www.frankandcamilleseast.com, will help you find the store closest to you.
